Movie Trailers

I don't know about you, but when I go to the movies I love to get their early enough to see the trailers. The sneak peak! Or in some cases these days- the whole reveal in under 3 minutes. What's up with that? Shouldn't you want to 'tease' the audience into going? I mean if you give away the entire plot and all the good points in the movie why go? For instance "The Breakup" with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston- yes I know that came out awhile- all the hilarious bits were in the trailer. Or "What happens in Vegas" even in the trailer it shows them finally winding up together (now granted that's the formula for romantic comedies but it doesn't neccessarily need to be, but if you show me in the trailer there's no room for wondering). I just happened to see a trailer for a movie called "Obsession" this morning. It stars Beyonce and Ali Larter (Heroes). The trailer WAS the movie. It too revealed the ending fight between the two ladies and left one second to guess what happens. Of course if you saw "Fatal Attraction" just put in Ali for Glenn Close and Beyonce for Michael Douglas' wife and there's your movie.
Another movie coming out with Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson looks really good, and I am sure will have some witty dialogue and cute moments but the trailer tells you the entire movie!! (It's called Last Chance Harvey and if you haven't seen the trailer go see the movie).
One trailer that WAS doing well in not giving too much away is Seven Pounds (will smith). It makes you wonder what he did wrong to need to change these peoples' lives. UNfortunately I saw a 3rd cut trailer which, to me, looks like it shows what he did- thereby ruining THAT mystery moment- but I am still interested in the movie.
So comedies give away the good jokes, what about action trailers? You guessed it, the best action sequences. Or mysterious thrillers- the face of the beast, killer, etc.
I guess the thinking of the studio suits is that by showing all the cool stuff it will entice audiences. Sure it may and will but then watch how fast the audience drops off the next weekend because they tell everyone all the good stuff was in the trailer.
And another thing...trailer? So shouldn't it be at the end of the movie? I think at one time it was. Anyway be weary of the trailers!!!

Some Past Notes from Facebook

These were posted on Facebook in case you missed it:
Our Economy-
It's bad people....so bad it's like a deer in headlights. I don't know what to do but hold on for the ride. Funny how one of our founding forefathers would know how bad and evil this bailout is going to be: I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. —Thomas Jefferson, 1802And on top of that hiden within the big Bailout proposition under Section 8 (ironic if you think about what section 8 housing is) it states:Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agencyMeaning you can't fight it, no one can stand up to it---eat it America and like it!!As Ron Paul says: "you can't solve the problem of inflation, which is the creation of money and credit out of thin air, by more money and credit out of thin air, and not changing policy. We have to change basic policy."It's gonna get a whole lot worse before it even begins to be better. Now realize MSM (mainstream media) will spin this positive because they are owned by the same bigwigs who control our banks and government- but the really smart, intuitive American will know. How long before we start to see Americans wake up- of course people like me who try to convince others are ignorantly placed in the conspiracy theorist category. Don't come crying to me when it all goes to hell. I'll say- I told you so.

What is it about Obama?
I gotta say two years ago when this young black man stepped up and announced his candidacy for President i thought, okay he's youthful, speaks well, appears confident. He just might win. Soon though my interest subsided and I began to see something different. You know it's somewhat scary to see the hysteria surrounding him. It's unprecedented. Women sream and faint, throngs chant his name like a mantra. Some even throw out the shallow, "I love you!" I don't think any other presidential candidate or President himself had such a mass reaction. Sure we had the 'I like Ike" buttons, and "Win one for the Gipper" but I'm sure Washington, Jefferson, Reagan, FDR et al, didn't have women screaming adorations at him. I mean some people have even put him in paintings as the Messiah. I saw one of those Vigil candles like this. All these other past presidents have had achievements to go along with their praises. This Senator from Illinois has had no service to our country, never introduced a life changing bill, all he is are words. Just words stirring up adoration. When cheering in support of someone turns to adoration something is wrong. almost cult like. Someone said something to the effect of, "The cult of personality is often created when the general population is discontent." Well duh! America is fed up of 8 years of Republican controlled cronyism. Anything short of a penguin would've been cheered for. A great orator can take this discontent and through skillful words become that society's change- that NEW HOPE! Too often the disenfranchised (to throw in a nice political word) don't want to take the time to examine the agent of change, they just know it's different. Well in some cases change is NOT always good. (But by this statement I am not saying we should have a Bush crony in the white house either)Take the Iranians in the late 70s. They were tire of the regime of the shah. So they embraced Kohmeini, not because they wanted an Islamic state, but because he represented change. Unfortunately they found his words of change were not for the better. But they gorged themselves on his words, took in all he had to say without critical examination. They WANTED to believe, so they closed out all the facts that were there to examine and just became the Ostrich who was content to stick his head in the sand. So with that we know how that CHANGE effected those people. Some people in our country go so far as to compare Obama to Hitler. And I can see that ONLY, and I stress ONLY before you all have heart attacks or send hate mail. I ONLY SEE THAT IN THE FACT THAT ATROCITIES ASIDE HITLER WAS A GREAT ORATOR- he knew how to stir the general populace, to pull on those heartstrings. (I do not believe Obama is a mass murdering sociopath just a great orator.)Obama also likes to create a cult of personality around himself. He can create a cult of Personality by associating himself with the idea of change. He convinces everyone that things are terrible and a drastic change is needed. He then casts himself as the only person who can deliver this revolutionary transformation that everyone is waiting for. He portrays himself as a benevolent guide; the only one who cares about people and their needs and can pull them out of their alleged misery. In reality, they have no clue about how to address the problem - have no experience, no track record. But they are convincing because they are self assured. A cult of personality is excessive adulation, admiration and exaltation of a charismatic leader, often with unproven merits or achievements. It is similar to hero worship except that it is created specifically for political leaders. So we will see by next year or 2010 at most if Obama can walk the talk that he is so well at speaking.

So these should fill my rant and rave quota for a day or two. Let's wait and see what tomorrow brings.

I'm BACK!!!

Look at that last post- over TWO YEARS AGO. So we're gonna try this again. I think I stopped just because I lost the zeal and felt I had no time to post. So I am gonna try again. So far for now. I may find the energy to post somethign other than this again today. We'll see.
